The researchers believe that if they get expose to the antiretroviral medications to uninfected persons who are at high risk will prevent infection. There is concern about the safety of this method, the potential for selection of resistant viruses, and the wisdom and acceptability of initiating long-term antiretroviral treatment in healthy people.
